General Guidelines (in addition to the entire facilities guidelines)
- Child Watch is for children ages 6 months to 8 years old. * Special requests for children over the age of 8 to utilize Child Watch can be made through Emily Clinton. Leave a message at the membership desk for her.
- Must remain on site to utilize the Child Watch Service. *Daily limit is 2 hours.
- Please refrain from brining food/snacks with common allergens, personal toys, and electronics. Label the items your child does bring.
- Children who are ill (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rashes, pink eye, yellow/green discharge, etc.) must be symptom free for 24 hours before they can be in the Child Watch Area.
- Drop-offs may be denied if there are more than 10 children in the Child Watch area. (Child to Staff ratio: 5 to 1)
- The YMCA strives to maintain a SAFE and positive approach to managing children’s behavior at all times. Parents will be informed of any behavior issues and expected behavior guidelines will be communicated.
Other policies and procedures
- All children must be signed in at the time of drop off and signed out at the time of pick-up. (Please fill out an information sheet, if you have not already done so, for each child attending Child Watch).
- Infants and toddlers must be clean, changed, and fed before dropping off. Leave extra diapers and wipes, bottles and formula, etc.
- You will be notified if a child becomes upset and cannot be consoled after 15 minutes.
- You will be notified if a child is exhibiting unwanted behaviors.
- Remind your children to be kind, keep their body parts and objects to themselves, share, and to use inside voices.
- Children are not to abuse our space and items. No running, no throwing, no climbing on furniture. If issues become consistent after you have been notified of unwanted behaviors, your child(ren) will not be allowed in the Child Watch area.
- Staff will do their best to accommodate feedings and special instructions. However, due to the nature of Child Watch, it is not always feasible to accommodate specific requests.
